Abstract
After 49 years, Canada's first gold medal for amateur boxing was won by
Shawn O'Sullivan, who trains at the Cabbagetown Boxing and Youth Centre.
The film follows Shawn as he prepares himself physically and mentally for
the World Cup of Boxing tournament, and looks at his relationships with
his father, his trainer and coach, and the club, all of whom are an
integral part of his success. The climax of the film is the bout between
Shawn and Armando Martinez of Cuba, in which Shawn won the Gold Medal,
that was described by telecasters as "the best amateur bout in the
last twenty years."
