LOST & FOUND

Nov 1/2006
I lost my digital camera last night at Footwork. I don't  remember the brand (generic) but it is a fairly
heavy > black rectangular camera. The majority of the pictures on it would be of myself and my friends dressed up as two fairies and a cowgirl.
I really really want the pictures from the evening, I can get over the loss of the camera but not the
pictures.

Beware of Lost Pet Scams:

Lost pet phone scam Internet Scambusters has reported a new scam plaguing people who have lost their pets. The scammers look for lost pet announcements in newspapers or on signs, then call saying that a Mexican worker took the pet back to Tijuana. Victims are told to call the worker in Tijuana. The phone number they are given has the area code 809 -- which is actually a number in the Dominican Republic that charges callers astronomical amounts for each call. When the victims call, the scammer's associates string them along with broken English and misunderstandings, until they've racked up hundreds of dollars on the phone bill. The victim ends up paying a huge phone bill that goes directly into the pockets of the scammers, and your pet is still no where to be found.

Listing of lost and found items or pets are free for Cabbagetown and Toronto Residents and visitors. To monitor the content of our pages we will not post your item until we have reviewed it, usually within 24 hours. We realize that at times there is an urgency such as a lost pet and will endeavor to post as fast as possible. If possible try to keep the description under 25 words. If you have an image of the animal on the computer, feel free to e-mail us that as well, but we ask that you keep the image size to under 200 pixels wide and that the image be in jpg or gif format. We can scan an image for you and post, but there will be a minor fee for that.

We have so far reunited three dogs and one cat with their owners and helped locate a laptop computer.

Please e-mail the description of your lost pet or lost item to :  info@cabbagetown.biz

For lost pets we recommend the following measures:

Contact your local as well as neighbouring chapters of the Toronto Humane Society and or SPCA.

Mail flyers to area veterinarians with description and pictures of your pet.

If a long haired cat or dog, which requires  regular professional grooming, mail a flyer to all area and surrounding area grooming shops, with description and pictures of the pet both groomed and ungroomed.

Include in your description:

Name of the animal, breed of pet or possible mix, color type i.e.,  brown leather or red nylon etc. Age of the pet, colour/s, distinguishing marks, such as coat marks, off coloured nose (pink, brown) warts or lumps, operation scars, dewclaws on or off, general temperament.

Plaster the area where the animal was lost with flyers.
