SCAM ALERT!! 

If you get an e-mail announcing that you have won $1,000,000 and could be eligible for $50,000,000 endorsed by Bill Gates and a phone number in The Netherlands don't fall for it it's a scam!!
Here is what the e-mails look like and what you should do if you get one.

We get a lot of spam mail at cabbagetown.biz 100+ unwanted unsolicited e-mail a day. Selling everything from Viagra to religion and some very graphic porn stuff.- Not only is it annoying but also time consuming deleting it. Some has contained some serious viruses. Surfing around a few weeks ago I came upon a nifty program, which in THREE days has practically eliminated spam from my inbox. Best of all it's FREE, easy to install and use.

WE GET QUESTIONS:
We've been getting several e-mails asking when the Cabbagetown Festival is this year.

The short answer is that it is ALWAYS the first weekend after Labour Day. The Old Cabbagetown BIA does not as yet have the actual date up. on their website. But you might want to add their site to your Favorites so you can check later in the year. Here it is.

NIGERIAN 419 SCAM
If you haven't had a scam mail in your e-mail box yet, you are one of the lucky few. Called the Nigerian 419 Scam, after a section under Nigerian law. The scammer usually claims to be in possession of millions of (usually shadily obtained) dollars which they need to spirit out of (this varies) Nigeria, Sierre Leone, Zaire etc. They offer you 10% to 15% if they can deposit the money into your bank account. Greed is what drives the scam, you (if you fall for it) will have to pay some up front fees. The scam has netted the scammers in the BILLIONS (mainly from the US) and is one of Nigeria's main sources of commerce! 
Not only is it a scam it can also cost you your life. Several people have disappeared and one person was killed in Nigeria after traveling to meet the scammers.
